Acid Salts For Aluminum

Free-flowing acid salts are used to deoxidize or activate aluminum in preparation for electroplating and metal finishing processes.  Therefore, acid salts for aluminum are critical to the success of aluminum plating and finishing.

Acid Salt 829

  • Acid Salt 829 is for use with water on copper as a replacement for mineral acids

Operating Conditions:

Operate at 8 oz. per gallon (60 g per L) at room temperature for 10 seconds to 1 minute.

Equipment Requirements:

Tanks:

  • Koroseal lined tank satisfactory to 150° F (66° C).
  • High temperature rubber is recommended for temperatures exceeding 150° F (66° C).
  • At room temperature, rubber, polyethylene, PVC or polypropylene are satisfactory.

Heating Coils:

  • Karbate
  • Graphite
  • Teflon

Ventilation:

  • Positive ventilation is required when the solution is heated or when current is used.
  • All ducting and blowers must be chemical resistant.

Solution Makeup:

To make the solution, fill tank 2/3 full of water and stir in dry salts until powder is dissolved. After Acid Salt 829 is
added to the solution, adjust the level and temperature to operating conditions.
