Chemicals For Electrocleaning

Industrial electrocleaner chemicals are used to provide superior degreasing and cleaning in preparation for plating and metal finishing processes.  Therefore, electrocleaner chemicals for plating are critical to pretreatment, electroplating, and finishing applications.

Our solutions are available in the following packaging sizes:

  • 5-gallon pails
  • 55-gallon drums
  • 300-gallon totes

Miraclean IC-290

Miraclean IC-290 is a heavy-duty phosphate-free powdered degreaser for use in soak applications. It is for use only on steel and brass.

Usage:

This product is diluted with water before usage. Determine proper ratio based on the volume of the tank.

For light-duty soil removal:

  • Mix Miraclean IC-290 at 1 oz. to 4 oz. per gallon with water

For heavy-duty soil removal:

  • Mix Miraclean IC-290 at 8 oz. to 12 oz. per gallon with water

Operation temperatures:

  • 140° to 180° F

Advantages:

Miraclean EC-220

Highly alkaline liquid soak and electrocleaner for ferrous metals, copper, and copper plated work. Has been formulated to be free rinsing, low foaming, and highly conductive (5% solution – 62 mS per cm).  Will remove a variety of soils including oils, greases, and lubricants.  Can also be used as a spray cleaner.  Will also keep plating barrels and other equipment clean and free of oils.

Usage:

Concentration:

  • 0.4 – 4% by volume for spray cleaning.
  • 5 – 15 % by volume for soak and electrocleaning.

Temperature:

  • 120 – 180° F (49 – 82° C)

Voltage:

  • 6 – 9 volts

Current:

  • 50 – 125 amps per ft2 at 6 volts.

Equipment:

  • Nickel-plated steel (perforated). Mild steel is also satisfactory.

Solution Makeup:

  1. Fill tank ⅔ full with cold or warm water.
  2. Slowly add the required amount of Miraclean EC-220 with mild agitation.
  3. Add water to operating level and heat to temperature.

MC 520

Silicate-free heavy-duty detergent for use in soak and ultrasonic cleaning systems. It is safe for use on stainless steel, nickel, cobalt chrome, and titanium alloys.  Excellent for removing polishing compounds and blast media from medical implants and instruments. It can also be used to remove general machine oils.

Usage:

This product is diluted with water before usage. Determine proper ratio based on the volume of the tank.

For normal soil removal:

  • Mix MC 520 at 2% to 10% with water

Operating Temperatures:

  • 130° to 180° F

Advantages:

  1. Excellent removal of polishing compounds and blast media
  2. Useful over a wide range of applications and operating conditions
  3. Excellent rinsability

Miraclean EC-179

Dry, highly alkaline, granular product with a high sequestering ability and high surfactants. It is for use on ferrous metals only.

Usage:

Concentration:

  • 6 – 12 oz. per gallon. (45 – 90 g per L)

Temperature:

  • 140 – 200° F (60 – 93° C)

Voltage:

  • 6 – 8 volts

Current:

  • 30 – 50 amps per ft2

Equipment:

  • Mild Steel

  3. Excellent rinsability

Miraclean EC-140

Highly alkaline liquid soak and electrocleaner for ferrous metals.  Has been formulated to be highly conductive, free rinsing, and low foaming.  Will also keep plating barrels and other equipment clean and free of oils.  Can also be used as a spray cleaner.

Usage:

Concentration:

  • 5 – 25 % by volume for electrocleaning
  • 2 – 4 % by volume for spray cleaning

Temperature:

  • 140 – 180° F (60 – 82° C)

Voltage:

  • 6 – 9 volts

Current:

  • 50 – 100 amps per ft2

Equipment:

  • Mild Steel

Advantages:

  1. Excellent smut removal.
  2. High conductivity.
  3. Excellent on buffing and polishing compounds.
  4. Good oil removal and oil suspension properties.
  5. Packaged as a dry product for easiest and most economical shopping, storage, and handling.

Miraclean LB-620

Concentrated liquid caustic product for use as a component of a soak or electrocleaner for steel.  Excellent for removal and emulsification of oils and grease from ferrous metals.

Usage:

The concentration of Soak or Electrocleaner Package:

  • 0.4 – 4% by volume

The concentration of Miraclean LB-620:

  • 5 – 20%

Normal Ratio of Miraclean LB-620 to Component Package:

  • 4 to 1

Temperature:

  • 140 – 190° F

Time:

  • 1.5 to 10 minutes

Solution Makeup:

  • Add product slowly to the surface of cold water while constantly stirring to avoid spatter or violent eruptions.
  • Use with adequate ventilation and proper personal protective equipment.

  1. Water-based product so no dusting or noxious fumes to breathe.
  2. Biodegradable.
  3. Long tank life.
  4. Can be used as soak tanks with mechanical agitation.
  5. Useful over a wide range of applications and operating conditions.
  6.  The liquid product makes automatic chemical feed easy.
  7. Ability to clean and condition smut for removal in rinses and electrocleaners.

Miraclean EC-315

Concentrated liquid product for use with Miraclean LB-620 as an excellent anodic electrocleaner for steel parts. Miraclean EC-315 is excellent for removal of oil and smut.

Usage:

Note: Make maintenance addition at the same ratio as the initial charge of the tank.

  • 3 – 8% by volume

The Concentration of Miraclean LB-620:

  • 5 – 20%

Normal Ratio of Miraclean LB-620 to Miraclean EC-315:

  • 3 to 1

Temperature:

  • 140 – 190° F

  • 30 – 100 amps per ft2

The Polarity of Part:

  • Anodic (Positive)

Time:

  • 0.5 to 3 minutes

Miraclean S-170

Miraclean S-170 is a concentrated liquid product for use as a component of a soak cleaner for steel.  Excellent for removal of oils and grease from ferrous metals.

Usage:

Note: Make maintenance addition at the same ratio as the initial charge of the tank.

  • 3 – 8% by volume

The Concentration of Miraclean LB-620:

  • 5 – 20%

Normal Ratio of Miraclean LB-620 to Miraclean S-170:

  • 3 to 1

Temperature:

  • 140 – 190° F

Time:

  • 1.5 to 3 minutes

3. Add own caustic for maximum economy.
4. Can be oil splitting or emulsifying depending on caustic level.
5. Long tank life.
6. Can be used in soak tanks with mechanical agitation.

9. Ability to clean and condition smut for removal in rinses and electrocleaners.
