Miraclean Deoxidizer

A liquid acidic compound designed to remove oxides, stains, and smut from stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, magnesium, titanium, zirconium and iconel.

Usage:

This product can be diluted with water before usage.

Use caution, this material is acidic and should be added to water.

Never add water to acid.

Composition: Aqueous mixture of nitric acid and ammonium bifluoride. Hydrofluoric acid is present when mixing ammonium bifluoride with acids.

Odor: Pungent, acidic.

Concentration: 10% – 100%

Temperature: 70 – 110° F (21 – 43° C). Do not heat above 120° F (49° C).

Specific Gravity: 1.15 at 68° F (20° C).

pH: < 1 Flash Point: None

Behavior in Hard Water: Satisfactory

Dilutent: Water

Foaming Tendency: None

Rinsibility: Good

Solubility: Complete

Handling & Safety:

  • Effect of High Temperature: Some pressure may build up in closed drums and should be relieved.

Miraclean Deoxidizer 500

A liquid acidic compound designed to remove oxides, stains, and smut from stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, zirconium and iconel.

Usage:

This product can be diluted with water before usage.

Composition: Aqueous mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acids.

Odor: Pungent, acidic.

Concentration: 5% – 100%

Temperature: 70 – 110° F (21 – 43° C). Do not heat above 120° F (49° C).

Specific Gravity: 1.17 at 68° F (20° C).

pH: < 1 Flash Point: None

Mirapic ME-811

A water-soluble, dry powder containing acid salts with the addition of nitric acid to process Zamak-3 zinc die castings (Mix 1) and high silicon aluminum (Mix 2). Both treatments result in a leveled and fine-grained activated surface for post-seeding chemical or electroplating operations.

Usage:

Pickling and Descaling Zamak-3 Zinc Die Castings

Normal Use:

Concentration: 3.5 oz. per gal. (26 g per L).

Nitric Acid (42° Be): 4.5% by volume.

Time: 15 – 60 seconds.

Temperature: 85 – 115° F (29 – 46° C).

Equipment: Mild steel lined with PVC, polypropylene. Teflon heat exchangers.

Acid Number Range: 20 – 50

Mirapic ME-815

A water-soluble, dry powder containing acid salts. Mirapic ME-815 is added to sulfuric acid to deoxidize and activate copper and copper alloys.  Contains no phosphate, fluorides, chromate, ammonia, nitrate, or chloride.  Will restore copper appearance on copper alloys, enhance the appearance of brass alloys that are dezinced at the surface, and be used as a chromate-free deoxidizer on certain aluminum alloys.

Usage:

Copper Alloys

Mirapic ME-815 Concentration: 6 – 16 oz. per gallon (45 – 120 g per L).

Sulfuric Acid (66° Be) Concentration: 5 – 10 % (v/v)

Temperature: 60 – 100° F (16-32° C).

Time: 30 seconds to 6 minutes.

Agitation: Air agitation accelerates action.

Equipment: 316 Stainless Steel, Koroseal, Rubber, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, PVC.

Ventilation: Not required but is recommended with air agitation

Mirapic ME-810

A water-soluble, dry powder containing fluoride-bearing salts, which can be used to replace hazardous hydrofluoric acid. (1 oz. per gal. in water with the addition of sulfuric, nitric, or hydrochloric acid is equivalent to 1% by volume of 60% hydrofluoric acid.).

Usage:

SUGGESTED OPERATING CONDITIONS

Pickling and Descaling Stainless Steel (300, 400 Series):

  • Concentration: 8 – 16 oz. per gal. (60 – 120 g per L).
  • Nitric Acid(36° Be): 25 – 50% by volume.
  • Temperature: Ambient to 120° F (49° C).
  • Equipment: Rigid (non-plasticized) PVC, polyethylene.

Etch on Silicon-Aluminum Castings:

  • Concentration: 8 – 16 oz. per gal. (60 – 120 g per L).
  • Nitric Acid (36° Be): 50 – 75% by volume.
  • Temperature: Ambient.
  • Equipment: Rigid (non-plasticized) PVC, polyethylene.

Etch on Magnesium:

  • Concentration: 10 – 30 oz. per gal. (75 – 225 g per L).
  • Temperature: Ambient.
  • Equipment: Koroseal, rubber, lead, rigid (non-plasticized) PVC, polyethylene.

Bright Pickling Titanium:

  • Concentration: 2 – 4 oz. per gal. (15 – 30 g per L).
  • Nitric Acid (36° Be): 10% by volume.
  • Temperature: Ambient to 120° F (49° C).
  • Equipment: Koroseal, rigid (non-plasticized) PVC, polyethylene.

Descaling Titanium:

  • Concentration: 2 – 4 oz. per gal. (15 – 30 g per L).
  • Sulfuric Acid (66° Be): 10% by volume.
  • Temperature: Ambient to 120° F (49° C).
  • Equipment: Koroseal, rubber, lead, rigid (non-plasticized) PVC, polyethylene.

Miraclean SS Etch

A liquid acidic compound designed to etch and condition stainless steel surfaces prior to brazing, rubberizing, or resin coatings.  Is stabilized to deliver a uniform and specific etch rate over a long period of time.

Usage:

Use caution, this material is acidic and should be added to water. Never add water to acid.

  • Composition: Aqueous mixture of ferric chloride, nitric acid, and hydrofluoric acid.
  • Odor: Mild.
  • Concentration: 100%.
  • Temperature: 70 – 90° F (21 – 32° C).
  • Specific Gravity: 1.24 at 68° F (20° C).
  • pH: 1 – 2.
  • Flash Point: None
  • Foaming Tendency: None
  • Solubility: Complete
